Detailed description of Lake Cumberland Golf Club, CLOSED 2010

Lake Cumberland Golf Course, previously named Links At Lilly Creek Resort, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Jamestown, Kentucky.

Lake Cumberland Golf Course first opened for play in 1995. The course was designed by Joe Polston.

Lake Cumberland Golf Club completed a $6.5 million dollar renovation in xxx. The newly renovated 18-hole championship course has over 80 white sand bunkers along with several flowing creeks, and four waterfalls. The redesign was done by Brian Copper.

Blue tees: par-72, 6,109 yards, 71,0 / 139
White tees: par-72, 5,550 yards, 68.4 / 135
Gold tees: par-72, 4,920 yards, 54.7 / 121
Red tees: Par-72, 4,494 yards, 66.7 / 122

#1, play a conservative tee shot to avoid the fairway bunker on the right side, setting up a short iron approach to the double green that slopes back-to-front with greenside bunkers on both sides.

#6, 180 yards, is considered the best par-3 on the course.  Your tee shot is hit over a waterfall into a two-tiered green, guarded by greenside bunkers on both sides.

#7 is considered to be the most difficult hole to par. It’s a 400 yard par-4. You hit a blind tee shot to a rolling fairway with OB down the left side, then an uphill second shot to a narrow sloping green.

#16 is a 580 yard par-5. It’s truly a three shot in regulation hole with OB down the left side and fairway bunkers on the right to avoid off the tee. Your second shot will be a blind shot hitting into an approach area guarded by bunkers. The green is undulated from right to left.

#18, a 147 yard par-3, has what many consider the most difficult green. The green slopes severely back-to-front and left to right! Keep your shot below the hole for best results.

The course closed, August 2010 after operating in the red for quite awhile and with little support from the surrounding community association.
